Hafiz the Room Guardian by AnyaBoz Hafiz the Room Guardian by AnyaBoz
Etsy commission

Hafiz means the keeper, guardian, preserver; he has a clear quartz heart.

Hafiz is quite possibly my favorite commission to date! The client asked for a room guardian inspired by the pacific northwest wildlife. I was shown images of different landscapes and a list of different regional animals to inspire me. Everything else was left completely open! You may notice elements of different animals that inspired me.
I used instamorph plastic for his antlers and legs and the pure white contributes to the ethereal spirit energy I wanted him to express. He is actually the first to feature my new development in using a plastic ball and socket armature for the neck. He can bend his neck with much more ease than the traditional wire necks and it is way more durable. I am extremely happy with this commission and the client was too:D

Room Guardians are small creatures that protect one's home from negative spirits and energies. These friends can be easily placed on window sills, kitchen shelves, dressers, or wherever to keep watch over the room. Each guardian has a soft faux fur coat and each is individually sculpted from the wire frame to the clay face and hands, so no two are alike. The room guardians' arms, tails, and necks are bendable and Inside each of their chests is a unique crystal heart to give each one a different energy. These little guys have a lot of character and they love having a home to watch over.

 1. How did you come up with the room guardian concept?
The idea caught fire when a friend and I were walking through an antique store. On one of the bookshelves sat two stuffed foxes wearing riding clothes. I contemplated buying them because one could convince themselves that their expressionless stares were actually seeing and watching over the room. It was as if they were alive though they were a long way from being realistic. My contemplation came to an end when I realized I could spend less money and have a better one if I just made it myself. That is where

May I ask what type of clay you use? I am a beginner to making creatures so I am not sure.
Is the fur airbrush? I'm sorry for bothering you with questions😅
I absolutely adore your room guardians!

Ah, he is beautiful! It is very neat to pick out the different animal inspirations.  I'm guessing wolf, elk, and owl at least?  And I am so intrigued by this instamorph!  Is it pretty durable once sculpted?  If you expose it to heat will it become pliable again?

Thank you so much! Yeah I'm glad you can tell some of what he is inspired by haha.

It is very durable as far as I know. For example, I use a lot of hot glue and I think you
would have to worry more about the glue in the heat than the instamorph and you don't
really have to worry that much haha. I use boiling water to heat it so its not just slight heat
that makes it really soft or something. You should definitely try it out! I'm just beginning
to experiment with it so I'm sure there's a lot more to discover.

Hm, I think I see owl...in the face around the eyes.  Deer is quite plain to see because of the lovely antlers.  And I feel like there is some badger there too.  Perhaps some fox or wolf?  This is a really beautiful room guardian.  I especially like this pose for him!

This is so great!!!! You should be proud of this, but personally my favorite of your room guardians is your white Lynx one. I love the antlers though and shape of the snout. I can't wait till you make premade room guardians 😋😋
